The peacock bass fish behaves similar to that of a largemouth bass fish that is until you hook it. Many anglers can be caught by surprise when the peacock bass takes the bait. As adrenalin pumps through the fish it pulls ferociously on the line. Due to the adrenalin rush the fish doubles its strength and can wrestle the bait with amazing energy.

Science has shown that these types of fish are highly evolved and their entire diet is based on small fish. Due to this fact is classified as a predator. This type of fish is found in the Amazon in South America. It has a large mouth that can look like a bucket; it is fast and very strong and can swallow small fish in one mouthful.
When it comes to fishing for peacock bass the best times are when the water levels are at their lowest. December through March is considered to be the best fishing season in the northern area of the Amazon river - July through November in the southern area. At these times the water is said to be clear and low as this is the typical dry season.
When it comes to successfully catching these fish it all comes down to mastering techniques. These techniques develop based on how the fish behaves, understanding its temperament and how it reacts when on the lure. It is also a good idea to study the history of this fish and to determine when the best season is to catch it.
